Happy songwriting!

So.... I am a real beginner of sorts. Below is my lyrical attempt at the exercise but the pull of the rhyme in the chorus was too much to resist. I have no idea how this all works but I am learning. There is music to go with it which is fingerpicking acoustic style but I nead to learn how to fit the words to the flow of the song. For now I decided to just put the lyrics here which I hope is ok to do in the absence of not being able to upload a Word .doc anywhere that I could see?
Verse
4 years on and now here you sit in this room
Clapping on your door step…… now another time
Could have been so different for you
Your favourite dress, it fits…….. tears well up inside
Verse
You ask yourself who is this girl sitting by the phone
If he could see the change he’d call…… you gave no clues
Looking back, a crossroads moment, locked in, a time to change
But the hurt and guilt you feel for others you just can’t shake
Chorus
Chrystal buys that dress and life feels good for a while
Standing tall shoulders back at last you found your smile
But life takes over, no opportunities
To wear the dress that reminds her of the girl she wants to be
